I beleive the main thigs are just metal frame and bigger screen which make it slightly more disirable. You pointed out things I never even noticed. Why it's better? Looks? Bigger screen?įor me personally I wanted the jap version as I was doing a full restore which is difficult on an American version unless you replace the wood whereas on a jap you can repaint the metal and plastic. I have seen a variant to the Japanese model which is the same as the standard except it has a higher backed seat with speakers in it, plus chrome strips on the back of the base and a chequered sticker under the seat.Īs to why the Japanese model is more expensive it's because people believe the jap model is better which drives the price up. The other difference I'm aware of is that the back of the seat is orange on a jap and black on an American. The Jap model also has orange side plastics. I'm no expert on this but your right about the Jap model being metal and the American model being wooden.
